The first five are simple UI usability tweaks. There are a few areas where I feel that VinylStudio could improve. I record to an Edirol R09HR SD-based flash recorder, de-click with ClickRepair, and then use VinylStudio for tagging, album art, track splitting, and saving to FLAC. I've used VinylStudio for a short time, but not for the recording step. The two biggest advantage to these programs are efficiency and an appropriate and extensive set of tools to get the job done. You could probably take any individual task in VS or SIA and find a program that does a better job at it. It's not just a press-a-button-and-be-done type of program. They also say you need spend time with it on each LP to get the best results. I don't know much about the de-clicking algorithms in VS but most people say ClickRepair does an excellent job. It can split tracks based on silence but VinylStudio, and, I believe, Spin It Again, can split based on the track list it retrieves from the Internet.
It can't look up album info on the Internet and its tagging facilities are limited.

I have not come across any other programs for Windows that are both created for vinyl ripping and have such an extensive feature set.Īudacity does a great number of tasks but it doesn't do them all.
Their UI's, feature sets and workflows are all in support of that task. I haven't spent a great deal of time with VinylStudio but from a high-level, Spin It Again and VinylStudio are both designed specifically for digitizing vinyl.
